Do you offer virtual or telehealth services?
Yes! For your convenience, Freedom-Focused Counseling is completely virtual. Sessions are offered online through a secure video conferencing software that’s extremely user-friendly and designed to support you from the comfort of your home.
What should I expect in the first session?
There may be many feelings associated with starting counseling. Empathy and compassion are essential. The first 1-2 sessions is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and discuss the therapeutic journey. During the initial session, I will complete a thorough assessment. The assessment addresses the presenting concern(s) (what brought you in for counseling), family history, mental health history, school/or work performance, spirituality, etc. We will conclude the assessment by creating targeted treatment goals and discuss your hopes as a result of our work together.
How do you ensure my privacy?
The privacy and protection of your personal health information are my priority. The strictest privacy measures and encryption for all communication are utilized. Freedom-Focused Counseling uses the SimplePractice platform which provides you access to your client portal and where you will have access to all required client forms, secure messaging, online scheduling, and billing. As a third-party contractor, they also provide a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) which means they are legally required to protect your health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Do you accept insurance?
Freedom-Focused Counseling currently accepts specific insurance plans and is also a private-pay practice. To inquire if your insurance covers counseling services, please feel free to contact me for verification.
How does therapy work? What do I have to do in sessions?
Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs.
How long will it take?
Unfortunately, this is not possible to say on a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place.
I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success.
